In May 2017, the design office of Transconverter analyzed first data on contact system voltage, which were generated with the use of developed KS3000 U2 contact system analyzer.

First three analyzers KS3000 U2 (Transconverter manufacture) were installed on PSN235 U2 converters in the places of operation of 2ES4K and 3ES4K electric locomotives (Volkhov RLP and Tuapse RLP). The analysis revealed that system voltage within one day more than 20 times exceeds the nominal maximum value of 4000 V. There were cases recorded when contact system voltage exceeded 4600 V. This factor has a significant impact on IGBT wear and, as a consequence, undermines the indicator of fail-safe functioning of PSN235 U2 converter.
